Duck and Pheasant Hunts

Huntsteel organizes duck and pheasant hunts in Kolho, in Central Finland. The duck hunts take place at a magnificent wetland covering approximately 1.2 hectares. They are primarily conducted as driven hunts and evening flight shoots, though services are always tailored to your specific group.

We can also arrange accommodation through our partners if needed.

The duck hunts feature eight shooting stations, positioned to ensure both safety and a comfortable hunting experience. Clients may use their own dogs, or Huntsteel can provide retrievers if required.

Accessibility has also been taken into account for Huntsteel’s hunts; the duck hunts do not require strenuous physical exertion, and you can even reach your shooting station in casual footwear if you wish.

As part of the experience, we enjoy a light evening meal and campfire coffee at our own *laavu* (lean-to shelter). Duck hunt prices are determined based on the services provided, starting at approximately €150 per shooter.

Pheasant hunts are also fully tailored from start to finish. While primarily held in Kolho, these hunts can also be organized elsewhere, such as in the Keuruu area. It is best to use the client's own dogs (typically pointing or flushing breeds) for pheasant hunts, but, as with the duck hunts, Huntsteel can provide dogs if necessary.

Dog Training

Huntsteel organizes training for pointing dogs and flushing dogs. Training sessions take place in either Kolho or Keuruu. The 30-hectare area in Kolho is suitable for smaller groups, while the approximately 70-hectare area in Keuruu accommodates larger groups—for instance, for weekend-long training events. It is also possible to arrange self-guided hunts at the Keuruu site, and the area is well-suited for specialized training for spitz-type dogs.

Training sessions typically last around four hours and include campfire coffee at the lean-to shelter, as well as the services of a guide and a shooter. While the client performs the actual training work, Huntsteel arranges the scenarios and the birds. A standard training session costs €100, including up to two bird harvests.
